Director, TRIO Student Support Services (2006 – 2010) & McNair Programs (2008 – 2010)
- Reporting to Assistant Vice President for Instructional Support, administered $500K grant for federally funded TRIO SSS program serving 500 students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Program services are designed to assist in students’ retention and graduation.
- Asked by supervisor to take over administration of TRIO McNair program. This involved managing a $250K grant for a TRIO program serving 30 students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Program services are designed to prepare students’ for doctoral admission.
- Directly supervised four full-time staff members and one part-time staff member.
- Hired/supervised summer faculty and coordinated faculty teaching and student course schedules.
- Recruited, interviewed, and selected rising juniors for Summer Research Institute.
- Assisted students in selecting faculty research mentors and coordinated research symposiums.
- Provided career/academic counseling and facilitated educational workshops for program participants.
- Led SSS staff team in complete transformation of departmental services by redesigning existing tutoring program to enhance service quality, and designing/launching new services, including career and academic coaching, and personal counseling, to enhance student success. Directed redesign of program website. Within span of two years, transformations led to doubling of weekly tutoring sessions.
- Singlehandedly wrote the Rutgers University SSS grant (project years 2010 – 2015), which was funded for $535,000 annually.
- Collaborated on the writing of the Rutgers University Upward Bound grant (project years 2007 – 2011), which was funded for $550,000 annually and the Ronald E. McNair grant (project years 2008 – 2012), which was funded for $250,000 annually.
- Supervised one Seton Hall University Counseling practicum student, five Rutgers Graduate School of Education Counseling practicum students, and one College Student Affairs fieldwork student.
- Developed and led initiative to move McNair Office from the College Avenue to the Livingston Campus to unite all three Rutgers TRIO programs in one space.
- Led team in complete redesign of McNair Summer Research Institute, including development of new 3-credit research methods course to better prepare students for doctoral admissions.
